Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Gujarat’s Vantara, a sprawling wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation centre that houses over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals from over 2,000 species. He toured the facility and experienced its comprehensive wildlife care.

PM Modi’s visit to Vantara demonstrated the center’s dedication to duplicating natural environments, which was obvious in the wide enclosures. He encountered spectacular animals such as Golden Tigers, Snow Leopards, and four Snow Tiger brothers rescued from a circus.

What Is Vantara?

Vantara is a large-scale wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation center located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. It was established by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, spearheaded by Anant Ambani. The project spans 3,500 acres and focuses on animal welfare and conservation.

Vantara’s commitment to animal welfare and conservation has made it a significant contributor to global conservation efforts, providing a sanctuary for over 2,000 species and positively impacting the lives of millions of animals and birds.

The PM was also seen feeding and playing with various species including Asiatic Lion cubs and White Lion cubs. Vantara houses various endangered species including Clouded Leopard cubs and Caracals. In Vantara, Caracals are bred under a breeding programme for their preservations. They are released in the wild later.

The rescued animals at the centre are kept in places which closely mirror their natural habitat. Some of the key conservation initiatives undertaken at the centre include programmes for Asiatic Lion, Snow Leopard, One-Horned Rhinoceros, among others.

PM Modi also sat face to face with a Golden Tiger, four snow tigers who were brothers and were rescued from a circus where they were made to perform tricks.
