GATE 2025 Update: IIT Roorkee will release the provisional answer key on gate2025.iitr.ac.in along with candidates’ response sheets.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is set to release the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 exam answer key and response sheet by February 26. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check the GATE answer key and response sheets by visiting the official website at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The GATE 2025 exam was conducted on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 for admission to postgraduate engineering programs.
The exam was conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode, with city centers divided into eight zones. The results for GATE 2025 are expected to be declared on March 19. Along with the provisional answer key, IIT Roorkee will also release the response sheets of candidates who appeared for the exam. This will allow candidates to calculate their approximate scores by comparing their response sheets with the answer key. Additionally, candidates will have the opportunity to raise objections against the provisional answer key, provided they present valid evidence.

Steps To Download GATE 2025 Answer Key And Response Sheet
Step 1: Visit the official GATE 2025 website: gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link to download the GATE 2025 answer key.
Step 3: A login screen will appear. Enter your credentials to access your account.
Step 4: Once logged in, the answer key and your response sheet will be available for download.
Step 5: Download the GATE 2025answer key and response sheet
Step 6: Review the answers and calculate your scores using the answer key and response sheet
Candidates will be allowed to submit objections against the provisional answer key, along with the required evidence. IIT Roorkee will review the objections and release the final answer key along with the GATE 2025 results.
How to Raise Objections Against the GATE 2025 Official Answer Key?
Candidates can raise objections against the GATE provisional answer key by paying a fee of INR 500 per question. Candidates can challenge the answer key through the GOAPS portal.
IIT Roorkee will announce the GATE exam results on March 19, 2025. Candidates can check their results using their enrollment ID and password. The scorecards will be available for free download from March 28 to May 31, 2025. Later, scorecards will be available (till Dec 31, 2025) for download by paying a fee of INR 500 per test paper.

GATE 2025: Exam Pattern & Negative Marking
Question Types:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Only one out of four options is correct.
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): One or more than one out of four options is/are correct.
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: The answer must be keyed in using a virtual keypad. Only the on-screen virtual calculator is to be used for calculations.
Marking Scheme:
- Questions are worth either 1 mark or 2 marks.
- MCQs:
- For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
- For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
- MSQs and NAT Questions: No negative marking for wrong answers.
- Partial marking is not awarded for any question.
The combination of different question types and the presence of negative markings make GATE a challenging and comprehensive assessment of a candidate’s knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
