Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar sent shockwaves in the film industry when news broke that she filed for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage. The couple tied the knot on March 3, 2016, in a private ceremony that surprised many. According to ETimes sources, the divorce was not mutual, with Urmila having filed the paperwork four months ago.

Who is Urmila Matondkar?

Urmila Matondkar is an Indian actress and politician. Known for her work primarily in Hindi films, in addition to Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, and Tamil films, she has received numerous accolades, including the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award. Urmila reportedly met Mohsin at Manish Malhotra's niece, Riddhi Malhotra's wedding in 2014. The designer played Cupid but it was said that it was love at first sight for Mohsin.

According to The Times of India, the 50-year-old actor took the decision after careful consideration. A source from a Mumbai court told the publication that the reason for the separation isn’t yet known. Urmila follows a total of 150 people on Instagram, however, Mohsin is not one of them. The actor, however, hasn’t removed pictures with Mohsin. The last post that featured the couple together was on Eid, 2023. Sharing a photo with Mohsin, Urmila wrote, “May all prayers for Peace and Harmony be accepted. Love, Kindness, and Compassion prevail!”

In the same year, she had shared a birthday post for her husband, which read: “OMG… Goodness..Kind heart..The generosity of Soul..Kindred Spirit never looked better than this. Happy Birthday hubby dear.”
