TMKOC Sonu: Actor Palak Sindhwani Alleges Taarak Mehta Makers Threatened To Ruin Her Career
TMKOC Sonu: The makers have issued a formal notice to Palak Sindhwani, who portrays the character of Sonu Bhide in the show.

Actor Palak Sindhwani has accused the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmash (TMKOC) of threatening her and causing her a panic attack on the sets. When IndiaToday.in reached out to the actor to discuss the matter, she sent out a big note, alleging mental harassment and exploitation in a written statement.
The four-page-long statement, carrying nine points, mentioned that the makers forced her to come on the sets and continue shooting the episodes despite her deteriorating health condition. The statement read, "Due to the harassment, Palak has been put under tremendous mental pressure which has further aggravated her health condition, and on 19 September 2024, the doctor advised Palak to strict rest and treatment by the doctor. However, despite her critical health condition, the production house did not allow her any leave and insisted that she keep shooting for the said Serial and subjected her to inhuman treatment which clearly amounts to exploitation.
They delayed approving Palak Sindhwani's resignation
In an interview with the Bombay Times, the 26-year-old actor said she told the production about her decision to leave the show on August 8, but the makers sat on it and asked her to wait for their official email. "They decided to take some time and then told me that I would be given an official email to which I should mail the resignation letter but that never happened. They delayed approving my resignation and after a few weeks, to my surprise, I saw articles in the media about how I had breached the contract," she said.
Palak went on to add that she got a copy of her contract years later. The actor shared that she started doing brand endorsements during the COVID period, and it was only after she resigned that the problems emerged.

Palak Sindhwani Actor TMKOC Sonu Dues Is Not Clear
The actor went on to accuse the makers of "torturing" her by concocting baseless stories about an alleged breach of contract. She also claimed that the production house has not even cleared her dues and has asked her to keep working. "Till date, Palak has not even paid her outstanding dues, which is over 21 Lakhs. This shows that the production house is in breach and not Palak," the statement followed.
Her statement comes a day after Neela Films released an official statement accusing her of making third-party endorsements and appearances without getting their consent. The actor defended the claims and said the makers were aware of her social media brand endorsements and had shown no objections until she filed her resignation. She alleged that it was only after she decided to quit the show that the makers started to put pressure on her to "make her exit difficult".
Earlier, actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal had filed a formal complaint against producer Asit Modi, production executive Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj, alleging that they had tried to cheat on her and made sexual advances.
However, Jennifer won the case at the hearing and Asit was asked to hand over the remaining Rs 50 lakh to her besides settling his outstanding debts. But later, Jennifer expressed her disapproval of the verdict and said, "I think a woman's reputation is most important. It has been more than 40 days and I am yet to receive the amount I earned through my hard work in this series. While Modi was found guilty of sexual harassment, the three accused were not punished. The local commission has ordered me to pay the amount due. This judgment clearly shows that my case was not fabricated and I was not seeking cheap publicity. I am happy that my harassment has been recognized but I still do not feel that I have received proper justice," she concluded.
Before Jennifer, actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the title character in the show, had accused the makers of not paying his entire debt, which led to a legal battle between the two. In 2023, Shailesh won the case and the makers had to pay the full amount.
The show premiered on the Sony SAB channel on 28 July 2008 and is currently available on the Sony LIV platform.
