What is CTET?

CTET is a national-level eligibility exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CTET exam is held annually to determine candidates' eligibility for appointment as teachers in Central Government Schools such as KVS, NVS, and others. The CTET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The CTET Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1-5 (Primary Teachers), and Paper 2 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 6-8 (Elementary Teachers). Candidates who wish to teach Classes 1-8 need to take both papers. The CBSE has so far conducted 17 editions of the CTET exam. The CBSE CTET 2023 exam is organized offline in pen and paper mode. 

What Is The Full Form Of CTET?

CTET full form: CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test, an eligibility test conducted by the CBSE every year to determine the eligibility of Classes 1 to 8 teachers.

CTET 2024 Application Form: How to apply

Candidates need to fill out the Online Application Form to apply for the CTET 2024 exam. Here is the procedure for filling out the CTET application form:

STEP 1: Visit the official website www.ctet.nic.in

STEP 2: Click “New Registration” which appears on the page

STEP 3: Fill in the Online Application Form by entering personal details and get the Registration Number.

STEP 4: Upload Photograph and Signature in the prescribed format

STEP 5: Pay the examination Fee by e-challan or debit card/credit card/net banking

STEP 6: Print the Confirmation page

CTET Application Form Correction 2024

Candidates can make corrections to the already filled CTET application form by following the given steps:

  • Visit the official website
  • Click on the 'Edit/Make changes to the application form (CTET 2024)' link
  • Enter the application number, password, and security pin
  • Click on the application correction button
  • Read the instructions on the page and click on the ‘Proceed’ button
  • Make the required changes and submit
  • Review the application form and make the final submission
  • Save the confirmation page

CTET Registration Fee 2024

  • For General/OBC:
    • One Paper: ₹1,000
    • Two Papers: ₹1,200
  • For SC/ST/Differently Abled Person:
    • One Paper: ₹500
    • Two Papers: ₹600

CTET Eligibility Criteria 2024

Have a look at the basic CTET eligibility criteria below:

  • Candidates should be Class 12 pass with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate to be qualified for the CTET exam for primary teacher

  • Candidates should graduate with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate or Class 12 with at least 50 percent aggregate to be qualified for the CTET exam for elementary stage teacher

  • Candidates should have completed the prescribed teacher training programs/teacher education courses


Certificate Validity and Passing Marks


The CTET certificate is valid for a lifetime, allowing qualified candidates to apply for teaching positions in government and private schools across India. This extended validity provides greater flexibility for candidates to pursue teaching opportunities at any point in their careers.
To pass the CTET exam, candidates must secure at least 60% marks. This qualifying score is mandatory for obtaining the CTET certificate and eligibility for teaching positions in schools nationwide.
